Open Badge Infrastructure
Open Badges (or micro-credentials) is not proprietary. It’s free software and an open technical standard any organization can use to create, issue and verify digital badges. Collect badges from multiple sources, online and off, into a single backpack. Then display your skills and achievements on social networking profiles, job sites, websites and more. Whether they’re issued by one organization or many, badges can build upon each other and be stacked to tell the full story of your skills and achievements. Open Badges are information-rich. Each badge has important data built in that links back to the issuer, criteria and verifying evidence. Originally developed by Mozilla, IMS is now is in charge of future development and management of Open Badges.
Open Badge passport is a free online storage system for you to collect and manage your Open Badges from different issuers. It supports Facebook login, so you do not need to create another password to remember. In addition, you can use Open Badge Passport to share your achievements on social media, college applications, and job interviews.
